The Newcastle Writers Festival will hold its 10th event in 2023. The festival champions writing and ideas, and connects people and stories across the Hunter Region and beyond. The program features 90 events and 150 writers across three days.

San Antonio Book Festival

Street Books

The theme of the festival is “Words in Motion, Telling to Transform,” and it will focus on the use of literature as a tool for exploring and provoking social change, with a specific focus on gender-based violence. The festival will feature a variety of events, including readings, workshops, and panel discussions. Authors, poets, and artists from Italy and abroad will come together to share their work and discuss the importance of literature in addressing social issues. In addition to the main festival, Street Books will also be hosting a number of satellite events throughout the year.

Guernsey Literary Festival

The Guernsey Literary Festival is one of the highlights of the island’s arts calendar bringing some of the world’s greatest writers, speakers and thinkers to Guernsey. With events for all interests and ages, the Festival is a unique opportunity to come together to celebrate the written word. The festival attracts speakers from a wide range of disciplines, from literature to politics, from history to sport, from the environment to food, from biography to travel. We also organize a full education and community program, together with workshops for local writers with renowned visiting authors.

Stratford Literary Festival

Nine days of events in spring and a long weekend in the winter set in the home of the world’s most famous writer and featuring best–selling authors, lively panel events, workshops and events for families. The Festival also has a wide outreach programme in schools, the community and prisons.

The Franschhoek Literary Festival

May 17-19, 2024 | Franschhoek, South Africa


The Franschhoek Literary Festival runs annually on the third weekend in May, starting on Friday and ending Sunday. The FLF provides a platform for open and progressive discourse with participation from renowned South African, Pan-African and international authors and thought leaders. Informal discussions are the hallmark of the festival with spirited debates on a variety of topical issues. Not forgetting the lighter, inspirational and fun sessions guaranteed to stimulate the senses. A storytelling festival, poetry evenings, business breakfasts, live performances, film screenings and writers’ workshops complete the excellent offering of the FLF. The FLF is preceded by the Franschhoek Reading Festival Week. Fun, light and festive activities keep learners delighted and engaged. Storytelling, puppetry, word games, book mascots bring books to life in the Valley. The week of celebrations end with the Phendulani Quiz on the Friday 19 May 2023.

International Literature Festival Dublin

Founded in 1998 the International Literature Festival Dublin celebrates live literature at the heart of Dublin City, a designated UNESCO City of Literature, creating transformative experiences for readers and writers alike. Showcasing globally renowned artists and thinkers alongside emerging local writers, the programme is driven by a commitment to inspire, stimulate and entertain audiences of all ages. International Literature Festival Dublin is a Dublin City Council initiative, kindly funded by The Arts Council.

Hay Festival International

Hay Festival is an international celebration of arts and sciences that has been held for the past 32 years in Hay-on-Wye, a small town in Wales that is famous for its bookshops. The Festival lasts 11 days, hosts more than 700 events, debates, interviews and concerts. Its audience comes from the UK, Europe and the Americas.

Tallinn HeadRead Literary Festival

May 29 – June 2, 2024 | Estonia


HeadRead Festival has taken place for 12 years, it has both international guests and Estonian authors, poetry, prose and non-fiction. We also cooperate with theatre, film and music. Usually, it takes place in the last week of May. The festival is small and relaxed, people are usually invited to stay for the whole festival.

Bay Area Book Festival

Based in Berkeley, California, the annual Bay Area Book Festival brings 200-300 notable authors each year to a two-day festival with approximately 100 programs (interviews, panels, performances) for adults. One of the most international literary festivals in the U.S., we typically include 25-35 authors from other countries. While most author programs are indoors, we also have a large Outdoor Fair with three stages and 100 literary-themed exhibitors. The Outdoor Fair also hosts our children’s program, with author-led storytelling, author interviews (often done by youth), and interactive activities. Around 20,000 people attend each year.
